Let's face it, everyone knows one - an alcoholic. Alcoholism has no cure. It is destructive and fatal.  Though you won't see running races or people brandishing bracelets for awareness. Many people can’t talk about it, can’t acknowledge it, or won’t acknowledge it. Alcoholism knows no bounds. Race, gender, religion, genetic make-up, or socio-economic status cannot determine in a definitive and conclusive way why a person is alcoholic. Even today, ignorance and confusion still surround this illness and its forms of recovery and rehabilitation, and sometimes even more so in the case of female alcoholics.

That's why I wrote this play..and it all started with a master's thesis.

This play is about alcoholism. It is about a diverse group of female alcoholics.

It is about why female alcoholics drink. It is about shame and fear. It is about consequences. It is about the desperation that occurs when drinking no longer works. It is about putting the drink down. It is about living life on life's terms when alcohol is no longer an option. It is about recovery. It is about the joys, and pains, of sobriety. It is about sanity and insanity. It is about what happens when she is recovering, and when she is not. It is about Steps. It is about one alcoholic talking to another alcoholic. It is about recovery meetings. It is about online recovery meetings. It explores the question is e-recovery sufficient. It is about support. It is about connection. It is about humility. It is about love. It is about laughter. It is about embracing the messiness that is life. It is about something greater than us all. It is about the miracles that can occur when she is living authentically, soberly. It is about Hope.
